Easy Fruit Smoothie to Leave You and Your Nutrition Goals Satisfied

Sometimes it’s hard to get your daily servings of fruit, vegetables, protein, and supplements. Life gets busy! To make things easier we have a simple fruit smoothie you can follow and add to with any ingredients you want! This smoothie recipe will leave you satisfied until your next meal and will help you reach your dietary goals. Whether that be protein, veggies, or a vessel to get your supplements, this smoothie is here to help.

Why are these ingredients important?
It is important for your mental and physical health to consume a few servings of fruit, vegetables, protein, and if you’re like many Americans, supplements like iron, collagen, and vitamin D. To say the least, vegetables can improve your digestive health (fiber!), and are full of essential minerals such as magnesium, zinc, and selenium. Getting enough daily intake of protein helps your body stay satiated between meals by curbing the hunger hormone ghrelin, it’s good for your muscles and bones, and helps lower your systolic blood pressure (the top number). All great reasons to get enough protein every day!

Ingredients:

– Blueberries – We used Lochmead Farms locally grown blueberries, and we recommend you to get yours locally whenever possible! If you pick and collect too much, freeze them in gallon ziplocs to use in recipes such as smoothies or blueberry pancakes!

– Bananas – banana taste is strong in smoothies, we recommend using one.

– Strawberries – pile in the strawberries for the nice pink color!

– Ice – use a nice handful of ice or two if you want it a lil’ thicker. If you are using frozen blueberries, you won’t need as much ice so add to your preference.

– Yogurt – you can use Lochmead Farms yogurt or a protein-packed greek yogurt! If you go for the unsweetened greek yogurt route, you might want to add some agave or honey for sweetness!

If you’re feeling adventurous…
Add any of these:

– Protein powder

– Agave, honey, maple syrup

– Collagen powder

– Supplement powders

– Veggies! Spinach, kale, carrots (in this recipe we added a generous handful of kale).

Lochmead Farms milk or water if it’s too thick!
