Simple Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe
Craving a Sweet Treat? Us too.
After extensive research, we can now provide you with a super simple chocolate chip cookie recipe to satisfy your sweet treat craving. This cookie recipe is so easy that even baking noobs like us could pull it off. The ingredients list is short and includes all things you can easily find around your kitchen. Additionally, it’s also great if you’re short on time and need a quick batch of ooey gooey cookies. So if you’re craving a sweet little treat, give it a go! The original recipe will make 9ish regular-sized cookies.
For kitchen equipment, you’re going to need:
- A medium to large size mixing bowl (depending on how many batches you want)
- Whisk/hand mixer/mixing bowl (any of these options work just fine)
- A 1-cup measuring scoop
- A 1/2 cup measuring scoop
- A teaspoon
- A baking sheet
- A spatula (for scooping your baked cookies off the sheet)
- A silicone spatula (for mixing dry and wet ingredients together)
We also recommend using some nonstick spray or wax paper to keep your cookies from sticking to your baking sheet!
Ingredients list:
- All-purpose flour (1 & 1/2 cup)
- Brown sugar (1/4 cup)
- White sugar (1/2 cup)
- One egg
- Vanilla (1 teaspoon)
- Salted butter (8oz) (melted)
- Baking soda (1/2 teaspoon. Confession; we used a full teaspoon and they were a little fluffy. But if you prefer your cookies a little flatter go with the directed 1/2 teaspoon!)
- Chocolate chips (Measure with your heart <3 or use 1 cup)
- Salt (1/4 teaspoon)
If you want to 1.5x the recipe for just a fewww more cookies, we did the math conversions for you!
- All-purpose flour (2 & 1/4 cup)
- Brown sugar (1/3 cup, plus a little pinch)
- White sugar (3/4 cup)
- One & a half eggs
- Vanilla (1 & 1/2 teaspoon)
- Salted butter (12oz)
- Baking soda (3/4 teaspoon)
- Chocolate chips (1 & 1/2 cup)
- Salt (1/3 teaspoon plus an extra pinch)
Adaptability
These are the official ingredients but don’t be afraid to change things up or adapt the recipe any way you see fit! For example, in the actual baking of these cookies, we switched the white sugar for Stevia (for a lower sugar total) and the cookies turned out great! Another confession… the only butter on hand was unsalted and despite our lack of optimism, the unsalted butter worked out just fine. If you want to get a little crazy, add a mix of chocolate chips and chunks!
Directions:
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
- Melt your butter until it is nearly all liquid and then add your sugars and whisk/hand mix/bowl mix until it is fully combined.
- Afterward, add your egg and vanilla to the bowl and mix as little as possible! You don’t want to overbeat the egg.
- Next, add your flour, baking soda, and salt and mix until it is combined and sticky but formable.
- Once well mixed, toss in your chocolate chips and begin dividing the dough into balls with your hand. The dough balls should be a little smaller than a golf ball.
- Once formed, place them on your greased-up sheet pan and give them a bit of a press down in the middle so they don’t bake too tall.
- Allow to bake for 9:30 – 11 minutes, depending on how large your dough balls are. If you overcook they won’t be ooey gooey!
More Adaptability:
One batch will make around 9 regular-sized cookies, or you can choose to make a bunch of bite-sized cookies! If you do, reduce the baking time! Like we said previously, if you prefer your cookies flatter, follow the 1/2 teaspoon baking soda rule, but if you like your cookies a little fluffy, add a little more! If you want a little more protein, try switching half of the flour for a protein powder, we recommend vanilla flavored. And don’t forget! The glass of Lochmead milk!! Nothing goes better with a warm squishy cookie than a glass of milk.
